About Tom Scherschel​

I am a self-taught painter and lover of all things southern Californian.  As a recently retired elementary school teacher, I am in the process of reinventing myself yet again.  My artwork is literally and figuratively mirroring my life.  I'm exploring new avenues and taking chances in ways that I haven't previously done.  If a new piece isn’t working, I completely paint it out or scratch parts away, continually adding different textures, colors, and layers.  My work continues to evolve and represent my humanist philosophy of life.
